Check out the Hunky Dory Social Club, a new bar in Sydney that my favourite coworker Amber (we’re known as A²) took me to Friday night. First impressions: it reminded me a lot of Black Dog crossed with the Junque Cellar back home, minus the need for heat lamps. The club was three levels and we made our way to the top. It was too hot to sit on the leather couches, so we spent most of the night milling around.
A few quirks about the place: The drinks menus were made out of Little Golden Books (remember, the children’s book series from way back in the day?), and wine was served in high ball glasses. The bathrooms were co-ed, which meant the guys had to wait just as long as the girls. And the prices weren’t cheap. $18 for a cocktail? $9 for a high ball? Needless to say, not the place to get drunk, but it was still good fun.
