Leaving Karijini

Fortescue Falls

Dales Gorge

Fern Pool

Today we left Karijini National Park and continued our travels, but first we spent a delightful hour at Dale’s Gorge, where we did an easy descent to Fortescue Falls and Fern Pool. Fern Pool is known by the Aboriginals for containing a giant serpent that created all the gorges in Karijini, but for visitors it is simply a fantastic place for swimming in summer. Being winter, we opted for the slightly warmer pool at the bottom of the falls. A refreshing swim before five hours of driving was a good way to start the day.
